Possible scam

The Preston County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a possible scam in the area. This one starts with a text message to the potential victim’s cell phone from phone number 844-795-5384. It will say that there is a problem with the victim’s debit card. The word debit will be misspelled as “debitt”. It will direct the victim to call 844-785-3376. This is not from your bank and should be avoided. As always, the Sheriff’s Office recommends that you not give anyone your personal information unless you are certain it is to a trusted person or institution.
